Fun at Home

Mix flour/sand with baby oil together until the flour/sand sticks together when squeezed. 

This activity is great for children to practice their fine motor skills. Simply provide your child with a colander and some pipe cleaners (or spaghetti will do). Encourage your child to put the wiggly worms through the holes in the colander. 

What you'll need:

• Tape
• Square items
• Triangular items
• Round items

1. With the tape make the shapes on the floor. 
2. Look for objects around with these shapes and leave it next to the tape shapes for your child to sort.

Aromatherapy Playdough

You will need:

• 16oz of plain flour
• 2 tbsp vegetable oil
• 2 tbsp cream of tartar
• 350ml of boiling water
• 115g of salt
• A few drops of three different essential oils of your choice (we like lavender, lemon and cedarwood)
• A few drops of food colouring (optional)

1. Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and vegetable oil in a large mixing bowl.
2. Mix in the food colouring (if using), and boiling water into the dry ingredients.
3. Allow it to cool and then knead for a couple of minutes until the stickiness has gone.
4. Split the dough into 3 parts and add a different essential oil to each one.

With a cardboard box, encourage children to cover it in tinfoil, and mark make using pens or paint. This will help encourage children's fine motor skills and imagination.
